We’ve finally surfaced! If you’re wondering why we’ve been so quiet all December, we should let you know, we’ve been putting in a little of that extra effort for the winter sowing.
Just like in July, we sowed our seeds with hope. And, looks like we’re going strong!

Lessons from the Dodo: Workshop on extinct and endangered species by Leaps and Bounds
Even though we are unaware of the total number of species that exist on this planet, we do know that human activity is soon pushing our biodiversity in a corner, inducing high extinction rates.
Happy Second Birthday, E-Base!
Two years have already passed since the 21st of November, 2011. Last month on the 24th of November, 2013, we celebrated the second anniversary of the E-Base with a lot of excitement as on this day the students played the most important role- that of the teachers!
The fair was a culmination of sorts of two years of workshops as we took it as an opportunity to let the children display their learnings at the E-Base. With science experiments and demonstrations, waste installations, biodiversity games and competitions, the E-Base was abuzz with close to 250 students in attendance!

दूसरी वर्षगांठ की हार्दिक शुभकामनाएं, ई-बेस!
२१ नवम्बर २०११ से अब तक २ साल गुजर चुके हैं। पिछले महीने अपार हर्षोल्लास के साथ हमने २४ नवम्बर २०१३ को ई-बेस की दूसरी वर्षगांठ मनाई क्योंकि इस दिन छात्रों ने शिक्षक सबसे महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई!
यह प्रदर्शनी दो सालों के वर्कशॉप की परिणती थी क्योंकि हमने इसे बच्चों को उनके सिखे हुए सबकों को प्रदर्शित करने का एक अवसर के रूप में लिया। विज्ञान के प्रयोगों और प्रदर्शनों, अपशिष्ट प्रतिष्ठानों, जैव विविधतापूर्ण खेलों और प्रतियोगिताओं के साथ, ई बेस में करीब 250 छात्रों की उपस्थिति थी!

Old Textbooks, New Life: Paper Mache workshop by Himanshu Joshi
This month, our students finally got a solution to the mounting pile of old and torn textbooks in their school backyards and store rooms. Mr .Himanshu Joshi and Vinod Gosavi of Bhavans College, Mumbai, paper mache experts came to the rescue to show the students a few tricks with their old textbooks.
Energy Workshop by Leaps and Bounds
Today with the finiteness of our resources more obvious than ever, it’s imperative to understand our energy usage – how we make it, store it, use it and how we can conserve it.
Taking Readings
The students learnt all about renewables, made vegetable batteries and worked with gadgets powered by ‘clean sources’ of energy. They measured the outputs given by solar panels in different conditions to understand how their E-Base works.
कार्बनिक डायरी – दसवां प्रयास: गर्मी के पौधों की समाप्ति
हमारे भिन्डी और बरबटी के सुन्दर पौधों ने अपने उद्देश्य की सेवा की। हमारे स्कूल के दोपहर का भोजन बनाने वाले रसोई ने हमारे कार्बनिक भूखंड के उत्पादों को शोषित कर लिया। ( बिल्कुल सच, छात्रों के कच्ची भिंडियां खाने के बाद बची हुई उत्पाद! हाँ , हम जानते हैं कि आप क्या सोच रहे हैं, कच्ची भिंडी? पर, छात्रों को इससे बहुत प्यार है! हमें लगता है कि कार्बनिक रूप से सब्ज़ियाँ उगाते समय इसका मिठास से कुछ लेना- देना रहता है। )

उर्वरक्ता डायरी : स्थापना
हमारे ई-बेस कार्यक्रम के भाग के रूप में, हमने अपने उपर ना सिर्फ कार्बनिक अपितु स्थिरता लाने की भी जिम्मेदारी ली! इस साल का हमारा दूसरा परियोजना कार्य यहाँ प्रस्तुत है-
कोहका मध्य विद्यालय के पास अब एक अत्यंत मनोरंजक इकाई है – उर्वरक इकाई!
कार्बनिक डायरी – नौवाँ कदम : बुरे मौसम के साथ निपटना
इस समय, हम गुस्से और सदमे की चरम सीमा पर हैं। हमें सीमा से अधिक रोष आ रहा है! पालक और मेथी के पौधों पर हमारा दूसरा प्रयास अक्टूबर में असामयिक वर्षा से निरस्त हो गया। हमने सोचा कि हमने सितंबर में ही मानसून को पीछे छोड़ दिया है, लेकिन यह बस यहीं कहीं कोने में छुपा बैठा था।

Wonders with Waste: Workshop by Green the Gap
Perhaps one of the biggest elephants in the room, waste, was literally welcomed to the E-Base this workshop. To introduce students to waste and its hazards, Green the Gap jumped in to share a little of their knowledge with our students at the E-Base.
