Gerry Martin introduced students to the basics in field of herpetology and focused on building field skills in taxonomy, ecology and safety protocol.
The kids experienced the world of these slithering reptiles, not all of which are lethal to humans. This workshop illustrated how to distinguish between venomous and non-venomous snakes, how to handle an encounter with a snake and also the importance of snakes in the food chain because they control the rodent population.
