David has been the chief scientific advisor to Her Majesty’s government, is appointed as a special representative for climate change by the Foreign Secretary of the UK, is also Director of Research in physical chemistry at the University of Cambridge, and was Director of the Smith School of Enterprise and Environment at the University of Oxford among other eminent posts. He has co-authored The Hot Topic and published more than 500 papers on chemical physics, science and policy. For his work in science and climate change, David has been knighted and even received the Legion d’Honneur.
The Vice Chairman of Tata Consultancy Services is also advisor to the Indian Prime Minister in the National Council on Skill Development, in the rank of a cabinet minister. As Chairman of the Bombay Stock Exchange, he has been pivotal in the recognition of companies by their sustainability footprint. He is a Padma Bhushan awardee for his commitment to the IT industry and has been awarded Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for his contribution to Indo-British economic relations.
He is the founding editor of Sanctuary Asia and is a member of the National Board for Wildlife of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, India. He has authored numerous books on wildlife including, most recently, Wild Maharashtra. In addition he has produced various conservation-related documents and heads Kids for Tigers, the largest mass movement of its kind for tigers in India. He is also at the forefront of the battle to protect the country from the worst impacts of climate change.
The founder of the organization 2041 is also the first person to walk unassisted to the North and South Poles. His work is dedicated to the preservation of Antarctica by promoting clean, renewable energy and sustainable practices to combat the effects of climate change. He has been appointed as United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for Youth and Special Envoy to the Director General of UNESCO.
